How Did You Get Your Placement RickyRick Ep. 20

October 3, 2019TRAKTRAIN

RickyRick, a music producer from Woodbridge, VA, who worked with Dababy, NLE Choppa, Q Da Fool and more, tells us the story on how he managed to work with them.

What’s your name? Where are you from?

What’s up ya’ll it’s producer RickyRick, I’m from Woodbridge, VA and that’s how I got my placements.

Who have you worked with?

I have worked with countless artists. My most notable works are with artists such as Dababy, Bali Baby, NLE Choppa, Trap Manny, Yung Manny, Paid Pat, Q Da Fool, etc.

How exactly did you get those artists to hear your instrumentals? How did they contact you, letting know they were going to be using your instrumental(s)?

All through social media and timing. Timing mostly, as my very first placement with Bali was obtained through twitter on her birthday. I noticed she was very active in replying to fans and looking out for mentions so I took the opportunity and posted a snippet of a beat and wished her a happy birthday and she fucked with it so that’s how her hit single “Elastic” came about. It’s currently sitting at 2 million streams on Soundcloud.

There wasn’t really much contact about the use until after the fact. Almost every time I had to find out myself or people recognised my beat tag and would tag me in the post. Only one time off the top of my head I can remember being contacted about placement and it was a DM from A Boogie himself letting me know his artist “Trap Manny” would be using my beat for his single “Taliban”.

When and how did you hear the record on your instrumental?

Every time it has been a snippet of some sort. Whether it was a snippet of the music video, at the shoot or in the studio. It has been a snippet every time.
